MOCDTI ORDERS IMMEDIATE REVERSAL OF GDCL STAFF SUSPENSION.

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations (MoCDTI) has ordered Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) to withdraw its decision to suspend the employment contracts of all employees with immediate effect.

The directive follows a circular issued by GDCL management announcing that all staff contracts would be temporarily suspended from July 1, 2026, as part of a comprehensive assessment of the organization. Responding in a statement issued on July 1, the ministry said it strongly opposed the decision and instructed management to cancel the suspension immediately. It also advised all GDCL employees to disregard the circular.

The Ministry of Communication further acknowledged the challenges faced by workers following the June 29 floods, noting that several employees had suffered personal losses. It assured affected staff of its support during the difficult period.

The statement also revealed that GDCL management has been invited to meet with the Ministry on July 2, 2026. The meeting comes after the minister visited the center on June 30 to inspect the impact of the floods on the facility and businesses operating on the premises.

The engagement is expected to review the situation and decide on the next course of action.
