Mahama Accuses NPP of Orchestrating DKM Microfinance Scandal

John Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Members of Parliament of orchestrating a smear campaign centered around the DKM Microfinance scandal. Speaking during a visit to the Bono Region, where DKM once operated, Mahama alleged that the scandal was a deliberate effort to discredit him.

Mahama claimed that the owner of DKM Microfinance, who is reportedly a supporter of the NPP, had been publicly associated with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. He presented photographs of the two together and cited comments from former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery as evidence of this connection.

The DKM Microfinance scandal, which unfolded several years ago, led to substantial financial losses for thousands of customers. Millions of cedis vanished as the company’s owners engaged in unauthorized investments.

“Recently, Vice President Bawumia was seen in Nandom with the real owner of DKM. This individual is, in fact, the genuine owner of the company,” Mahama asserted. “Former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery later confirmed that the DKM owner is a sympathizer of the NPP and a supporter of Vice President Bawumia. The falsehoods spread about me have now been exposed, revealing the true affiliations of the DKM owner.”

Mahama further alleged that the misappropriated funds from DKM are being used to finance Bawumia’s political campaign.
