Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo is currently receiving medical care at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after sustaining gunshot wounds during a reported shooting incident, as confirmed by her Special Assistant, Dr Emmanuel Y. Boakye.

This incident follows a violent altercation at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, where approximately 45 bullets were reportedly fired at her vehicle. A video circulating online appears to document the moments just after the incident, showing her being rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
In a segment on GhanAkoma with Akoma 87.9 FM, Dr Boakye revealed that the former MP has successfully undergone two surgeries and may soon be flown abroad for advanced specialised treatment. He stated, “Adwoa has undergone two surgeries and is expected to be transferred overseas for further care to mitigate any potential damage to her face.”
Doctors at the 37 Military Hospital are currently monitoring her recovery closely. Although Dr Boakye did not disclose the specific destination for her potential overseas treatment, he emphasised that arrangements are being made to support her full recuperation.
The incident has triggered widespread public alarm, with many demanding clarity about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, authorities have not released a comprehensive official statement, but investigations are ongoing.
Further updates are anticipated as medical and security officials continue to provide new information regarding her condition and the events surrounding the incident.
