MEDEAMA COACH, IBRAHIM TANKO BACKS HIS PLAYERS FOR BLACK STARS RECOGNITION.

Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has backed several of his players for inclusion in the Ghana national football team squad ahead of the country’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Tanko’s call follows an impressive campaign by the Yellow and Mauve, who successfully defended their Ghana Premier League title in commanding style. The Tarkwa-based side secured the championship with a match to spare after recording 17 victories and suffering only five defeats throughout the season. Their dominant performances have sparked growing demands for more locally based players to be considered for national team duties.

Speaking in an interview with Nhyira FM, Tanko expressed confidence that some of his standout performers have earned the opportunity to represent the Black Stars. He named players including Mamadu Kamaradini, Prince Owusu, Kelvin Nkrumah and Salim Adams as players deserving national team recognition after their strong performances this season.

Tanko reserved special praise for midfielder Salim Adams, who scored 12 goals in 28 league appearances. According to the Medeama coach, the midfielder has been one of the most influential players in the Ghana Premier League this season. It is a deserving candidate for the Player of the Season award. He noted that Adams’ consistency and impact on matches have set him apart from many players in the competition.

The former Ghana international also reflected on his long relationship with Adams, revealing that he has monitored the midfielder’s growth since his time with Ghana’s U-17 side. Tanko explained that he later worked with him again during U-23 tournaments, giving the technical team a better understanding of his qualities, including his pace, strength, and physical presence. He added that Adams responded positively to guidance from the coaching staff and has significantly improved both his attitude and overall game.
