BAWUMIA CAMPAIGNED IN ADENTA, CAMPAIGN TEAM REBUTS KENNEDY AGYAPONG’S CLAIMS

The campaign team of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has firmly rejected claims by New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong that Dr. Bawumia failed to support the party’s parliamentary candidate in the Adenta Constituency during the 2024 elections. The rebuttal follows comments made by Mr. Agyapong during a campaign tour of Adenta on Sunday, January 11, where he questioned Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to the constituency.

Mr. Agyapong alleged that Dr. Bawumia declined to campaign for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Akosua Manu, because her opponent, Mohammed Ramadan of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is related to him by marriage. He further suggested that Adenta, which he described as a traditional NPP stronghold, was lost due to the former Vice President’s absence from the local campaign.

In response, Akosua Manu, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Adenta in the 2024 elections, released videos and photographs on her social media platforms showing Dr. Bawumia actively participating in campaign activities in the constituency. The materials include footage from both the 2020 and 2024 election cycles, featuring Dr. Bawumia campaigning alongside former MP Yaw Buaben Asamoah and later with Akosua Manu herself.

The Bawumia campaign team described Mr. Agyapong’s claims as misleading and inconsistent with the facts on record. They stressed that the visual evidence provided clearly demonstrates Dr. Bawumia’s sustained involvement and support for NPP parliamentary candidates in Adenta, insisting that attempts to suggest otherwise distort the party’s campaign history in the constituency.
