Election Watch Ghana has stated that the incoming Electoral Commission leadership must harness modern technologies to improve voting processes, results transmission, and collation in order to guarantee timely and credible elections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization also warned against the promotion of current junior EC officers to vacant leadership roles, asserting that such individuals lack the credibility and public trust necessary for those positions. “The people of Ghana deserve better,” the group declared, adding that it would resist any appointments that elevate existing junior officers to deputy leadership roles.<\/p>\n\n\n

Election Watch Ghana also raised concerns about what it characterized as the lack of transparency surrounding the appointment process for Electoral Commission officials. The group contended that while the President appoints EC leadership in consultation with the Council of State, the law does not obligate the President to act on the Council’s advice that a situation it believes has fueled perceptions of political bias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, the group called for a more open and inclusive appointment process that places merit, competence, and the public interest at the heart of the selection exercise. “We call for a more transparent and inclusive appointment process that prioritizes merit and public interest,” the group said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It further urged prospective appointees to uphold the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism, stressing that public confidence in the electoral process must be rebuilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Election Watch Ghana affirmed that it would keep a close watch on the appointment process and hold new leadership accountable to ensure they serve the nation faithfully and contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democratic institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
