The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Senior High School (KNUST SHS) in the Ashanti Region has confirmed the death of a final-year student who was registered for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).<\/strong> According to school authorities, the candidate passed away after a short illness during the ongoing nationwide examinations. Management of the school expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured students and parents that counselling and academic support measures had been put in place to help candidates continue with the examination process.<\/p>\n\n\n

School officials also disclosed that another registered candidate has withdrawn from the school and has consequently been absent from the ongoing examinations. Despite these developments, the school administration indicated that the overall conduct of the WASSCE at the centre has remained stable and well-coordinated. A pregnant candidate was also reported to have successfully taken part in the English Oral examination together with her colleagues without any complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 1,022 candidates are sitting for this year\u2019s WASSCE at the KNUST SHS examination centre as the core papers begin across the country. Assistant Examination Supervisor and Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, Mr. Agyekum Kwaku, described the exercise so far as smooth and orderly. He noted that the school continues to uphold strict discipline and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice. <\/p>\n\n\n

Mr. Agyekum further stated that invigilators and supervisors were closely enforcing examination regulations to ensure fairness and credibility throughout the process. Meanwhile, other examination centres in the Ashanti Region, including St. Louis Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, have also reported peaceful and well-organised conditions as more than 500,000 candidates nationwide continue to sit for the 2026 WASSCE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
