The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Rashid Pelpuo, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment in Ghana. Speaking on Joy FM\u2019s Super Morning Show, Dr. Pelpuo emphasized that providing job opportunities for young people remains a top priority for the government, particularly through youth-centered initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe commitment to get jobs for young people is paramount in our government. We are working towards achieving that,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Pelpuo also revealed plans to expand opportunities for Ghanaians seeking work abroad, promising to make these opportunities more accessible to the wider population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are working towards those who are expecting to join the workforce abroad, and we will make it public for everyone to have access to it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, the Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline Ghana’s labor system to improve access to local employment opportunities. A key part of this initiative is the Ghana Labour Information System, which is already operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is collating all areas where there are jobs, and you can go in and use the computers to access the centres, view all available jobs in the country, and apply based on your skills,\u201d Dr. Pelpuo explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also emphasized a significant focus on fostering youth entrepreneurship through the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative<\/strong>, which aims to equip young people with skills and resources to work independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are working towards supporting those who have some skills, ability, and potential to work on their own,\u201d he noted, emphasizing that the initiative seeks to enable young people to create their own opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Pelpuo further encouraged both public and private organizations to actively participate in the Ghana Labour Information System to increase job accessibility for young Ghanaians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
