Communications Minister, Hon. Sam George Nartey, has underscored the pivotal role of the technology sector in Ghana\u2019s drive to reset and revitalise the national economy. Speaking at the Ministry\u2019s first-quarter press briefing on April 9, he highlighted how technology is being positioned as a cornerstone in Ghana\u2019s emergence as a leader in the digital and competitive global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe technology sector is critical in positioning Ghana at the top of the digital and competitive global economy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of this agenda is the 1Million Coders programme<\/strong>, a flagship initiative promised by President John Dramani Mahama during the pre-election period. The programme aims to train one million young Ghanaians in essential digital skills, preparing them for success in a tech-driven world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis programme will provide young people with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital and competitive world,\u201d Hon. George explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry has wasted no time turning this vision into action. \u201cWe have acted quickly to ensure that this vision becomes a reality, preparing our youth for the future of work,\u201d the Minister affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that efforts are underway to mobilise key partners and secure the resources necessary for the programme\u2019s successful implementation. Recognising technology\u2019s transformative potential, he emphasized the importance of strategic collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough strategic diplomacy and public-private partnerships, we are committed to delivering the results required to upskill our youth and ensure they are equipped for the challenges of the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Minister, the 1Million Coders programme is not just about technology; it is a deliberate move to empower Ghana\u2019s youth by equipping them with tools to thrive in rapidly evolving sectors such as business process outsourcing, knowledge management, and innovation-driven enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
