Students and staff at the Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf in the Eastern Region have reason to celebrate, as the Ghana Electrical Dealers Association (GEDA) has officially handed over a fully renovated boy\u2019s dormitory block.<\/strong> The renovation, valued at an estimated GH\u00a2195,000, included a range of improvements such as carpentry work, electrical lighting installation, painting, the addition of streetlights, and the replacement of mosquito nets. These upgrades are expected to improve the living conditions for the students, providing a safer and more comfortable environment.<\/p>\n\n\n

In addition to the renovation, GEDA generously donated a variety of essential items to the school. The donation included electrical bulbs, ceiling fans, floodlights, rice, gari, cooking oil, sanitary pads, toilet rolls, and millet. The association’s president, Kwabena Koranteng Asiamah, emphasized that GEDA\u2019s commitment to supporting the school goes beyond the renovation. He announced plans for ongoing annual maintenance support and future renovations of other facilities every two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, Asiamah shared that GEDA\u2019s decision to take action came after a visit to the school, where they witnessed the poor condition of the boys\u2019 dormitory. He called on individuals and organizations to show more compassion towards the community and to contribute to humanitarian causes. \u201cWe can\u2019t always rely solely on the government; it\u2019s important for others to lend a helping hand as well,\u201d Asiamah remarked, underscoring GEDA\u2019s focus on corporate social responsibility and its dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others.<\/p>\n\n\n

Assistant Headmaster, Administration, Divine Edem Kodadza, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous support. He noted that the newly installed streetlights and renovated dormitory have significantly improved the school\u2019s environment, particularly for students who rely on sign language for communication.
