Ghana is set to introduce a groundbreaking E-GATE system at the Kotoka International Airport by the end of this year, allowing travelers to bypass immigration officers using only their Ghana Card.<\/strong> The announcement was made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during a visit to Twedie in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency of the Ashanti Region on November 14. Dr. Bawumia explained that the E-GATE system will streamline the arrival process for travelers, enabling them to clear immigration quickly and efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dr. Bawumia, the E-GATE system will allow Ghanaian citizens to simply swipe their Ghana Cards at the designated gates, automatically verifying their identity and granting them access without the need for direct interaction with immigration officers. This initiative, he stressed, would significantly ease the travel experience and enhance the efficiency of airport operations. \u201cWhen you have a Ghana Card and you arrive at the airport, you won\u2019t need to go through immigration. You will simply slot in your card, and once your identity is verified, you will be granted access,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice President emphasized that the implementation of this system is part of the broader digital transformation agenda undertaken by the government, aimed at improving national infrastructure and services. Dr. Bawumia further highlighted the success of the government\u2019s digital property addressing system, which is set to become a model for other countries. \u201cBefore we came into power, many homes lacked proper addresses. We introduced the digital property addressing system, and today, Ghana is the first country to implement this innovation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n
