{"id":3924,"date":"2024-08-27T17:10:35","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T17:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/storylinegh.com\/?p=3924"},"modified":"2024-08-27T17:10:35","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T17:10:35","slug":"korle-bu-suspends-elective-surgeries-relocation-of-emergency-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/storylinegh.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/27\/korle-bu-suspends-elective-surgeries-relocation-of-emergency-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Korle Bu suspends elective surgeries; relocation of emergency cases"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has on 26th August 2024 announced the suspension of elective surgeries and temporary relocation of emergency cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to KBTH, the suspension and relocation were necessary because there have been ongoing issues with the use of lifts at the surgical block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"295\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/storylinegh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/kbth.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3925\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement signed by Professor J. E. Mensah of the Surgical Department,  the hospital stated that the said issue has impeded the transfer of patients up and down the surgical tower, which is significantly impacting their ability to perform surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven the current situation, we have decided to suspend all elective surgeries until further notice. During this period, we will focus solely on emergency cases to ensure that critical care is not compromised.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo accommodate these changes, emergency surgeries will be carried out at the Ground Floor Surgical (Neuro), Accident Centre, Pediatric and Gynaecology theatres. Patients undergoing these procedures will be admitted to Ward G, Ward N, Ward A, and Ward B,\u201d part of the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It further said that the process of replacing one lift and refurbishing the other is currently going through the procurement process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KATH assured that they are making every effort to complete the work as quickly as possible to minimise disruption and resume normal operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has on 26th August 2024 announced the suspension of elective surgeries and temporary relocation of emergency cases.
