During a recent visit to the Sewua Hospital project site, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has vowed to assist in overcoming challenges that have delayed the hospital’s operationalization. The Sewua Hospital, a 290-bed facility designed to serve as a regional hospital for the Ashanti Region, has faced obstacles such as electricity supply issues and poor road networks despite the installation of necessary equipment and completion of construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engaging with contractors and health officials during his visit, Otumfuo discussed strategies to address the hurdles obstructing the hospital’s opening. Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, confirmed Otumfuo’s commitment to expediting the facility’s operationalization. Dr. Tinkorang highlighted the need for a sufficient transformer to power the hospital’s equipment and emphasized the importance of improving road infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his efforts at Sewua Hospital, Otumfuo also inspected ongoing renovation works at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he led a fundraising initiative to support the refurbishment of key blocks. The renovation aims to address longstanding issues such as leakage during rainfall and ensure a conducive environment for healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sammy Adu Boakye, Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye project, provided updates on the renovation progress, emphasizing the significant improvements made to prevent leaks during rainfall and the phased approach being taken to minimize disruptions to hospital operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Manhyia Government Hospital, Otumfuo inspected stalled projects and engaged with authorities to devise strategies for their completion. He also interacted with patients and mothers in the hospital’s congested maternity ward, where authorities are expanding the Maternity Block to alleviate overcrowding and enhance healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operationalization of the Sewua Hospital is anticipated to alleviate pressure on major healthcare facilities like KATH and enhance healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region.
