Parliament of Ghana on Thursday, 16th July, 2020 laid the accident investigation and preventive bureau bill under the certificate of urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This a bill that seeks to address air traffic disasters and for the strengthening of infrastructure and its institution to meet both national and international obligations and best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presenting the committee\u2019s report at the plenary, the chairman on roads and transport committee, Samuel Ayeh Paye explained that, though the country has the administration and investigation bureau under the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority for the conduct of investigation into aircraft accident and serious incidents, it is not functionally independent and does not meet all the standards of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recommendation practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, the committee recommended that, the Ministry of Aviation to take steps to gazette the bill in accordance with order 124 of the standing orders of Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano added that, the committee in consensus recommend that, the House should adopt the report and pass the Accident Investigation and Preventive Bureau bill, 2020 under the certificate of urgency in accordance with Article 106\/13 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana and order 119 of the standing orders of Ghana\u2019s Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
