DELOITTE TO HOST TRAINING ON DIGITAL FORENSICS AND E-DISCOVERY TO TACKLE MOBILE MONEY FRAUD

Amid the growing threat of mobile money fraud, Deloitte Ghana’s Financial Advisory Department will conduct a comprehensive training on the Fundamentals of Digital Forensics and e-Discovery. Scheduled for November 27-29, 2024, the training aims to equip professionals with essential skills to combat digital crime and fraud in today’s increasingly connected world. The program will cover a wide range of topics, including an overview of digital forensics, exploring electronic discovery, understanding the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), mobile device forensics, and a survey of digital forensic tools and applications.

The training is designed for a diverse group of professionals, including legal practitioners, IT auditors, internal auditors, accountants, finance managers, and cybersecurity experts. Participants will gain hands-on experience in mobile device forensics, data acquisition and preservation techniques, and using specialized forensic tools to detect and prevent fraud.

Speaking about the initiative, Nii Asafoatse Abbey, the Training Programme Lead and Associate Director at Deloitte Ghana, emphasized the importance of developing expertise in digital forensics. “Our program offers practical experience with mobile device forensics, forensic tools, and data preservation techniques to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge in this critical field,” he said.

Abbey also highlighted the role of digital forensics experts in recovering deleted files, detecting data theft, and tracking unauthorized access—essential processes for supporting investigations and resolving disputes in both legal and corporate settings.

As digital crimes, including fraud, data breaches, and cyberattacks, become more prevalent, digital forensics has become an indispensable tool for uncovering evidence and ensuring accountability.
