Otto Addo, the Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, has revealed a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. The matches are set to take place in early September.
The Black Stars, who last played in June with back-to-back victories over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will regroup on Monday, September 2, 2024, to start their preparations. The team will face Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and will then travel to Berkane for their encounter with Niger on September 10.
Coach Otto Addo has largely maintained the squad from previous games, with a few notable adjustments. Key players such as Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku remain in the lineup. Returning to the squad are Kingsley Schindler, Inaki Williams, and Majeed Ashimeru, who missed earlier fixtures. Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the sole home-based player selected.
However, notable absences include Captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey, who were also missing from the last matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars will aim to make a strong start in their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign with the match against Angola on September 5 and the subsequent game against Niger on September 10.
