In the aftermath of last week’s tragic shooting at the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, two men, Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays, have been charged with murder along with other serious offenses. The incident resulted in the death of a woman and left 22 others injured, prompting shock and sorrow throughout the community.
According to Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker of Jackson County, the charged men face multiple charges including second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Allegedly, Mr. Mays engaged in an argument during the event and brandished a handgun, triggering a chain of events that led to the fatal shooting. It is believed that Mr. Miller, in response to the escalating situation, discharged his firearm, resulting in the tragic death of Lisa Lopez Galvan, 43.
Both Miller and Mays, who sustained injuries during the incident, are currently hospitalized but held on a $1 million bond each as they recover. The family of Ms. Lopez Galvan expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice for all affected by the senseless violence.
The charges against Miller and Mays follow those levied against two teenagers last week. Clarifying any confusion, Prosecutor Peters Baker underscored that the new charges pertained to adults involved in the incident, distinct from the charges faced by the juveniles.
