Miss Malaika ’23 Launches Nationwide HIV/AIDS Prevention Campaign

Queen Lady Nana Yaa Nsarko, the reigning Miss Malaika Ghana 2023, is gearing up to spearhead a comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention initiative targeting young adolescents across Ghana. The campaign, named the “Live On Campaign with Miss Malaika Ghana 2023,” aims to raise awareness and promote preventive measures against HIV/AIDS among both in-school and out-of-school youth.

As an Ambassador of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Queen Lady Nsarko, alongside her team from Miss Malaika Ghana and experts from the National AIDS/STI Control Programme (NACP), will embark on a grassroots campaign spanning various communities, with a particular focus on high-risk areas where HIV prevalence is notably high.

The initiative seeks to engage young people directly, fostering open discussions about HIV/AIDS prevention, encouraging voluntary counseling and testing services, and providing essential information on sexual health and disease prevention.

Scheduled visits will encompass schools, religious institutions, markets, shopping malls, taxi ranks, lorry stations, bus terminals, and other public spaces frequented by young people, including Kayayeis (head porters).

In preparation for the project, Queen Lady Nsarko has undergone rigorous training under the National AIDS/STI Control Programme, equipping herself with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead this vital campaign effectively.

During the media launch of ART@20 on Friday, February 16, 2024, Queen Lady Nsarko expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming endeavor, stating, “I can’t wait to see the start of this project to enable me to share the knowledge I have acquired with my peers out there. I am so excited to serve my country, Ghana, on a bigger platform that has been provided to me by the kind courtesy of the Ghana AIDS Commission, which has truly made a remarkable achievement in the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

The “Live On Campaign with Miss Malaika Ghana 2023” aims not only to sustain the progress made in combating HIV/AIDS but also to contribute to the reduction of new infections, empowering young people to make informed choices about their sexual health and well-being.
