Tamale, Ghana – In a remarkable display of culinary stamina, Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak from Ghana has seemingly shattered the world record by continuously cooking for over 227 hours. Clad in her nation’s flag, Abdul-Razak concluded the cook-a-thon with a heartfelt salute to the gathered crowd on Wednesday.
Describing the cooking marathon as a “national assignment” for Ghana, Abdul-Razak received cheers as she exited the hotel kitchen in the city of Tamale. The chef’s dedication and endurance have left spectators in awe, prompting her team to submit evidence to Guinness World Records (GWR) for official verification of her achievement.
Responding to the chef’s feat on the platform formerly known as Twitter, GWR stated, “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!” The current record holder, Irishman Alan Fisher, previously cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
Expressing her determination, Abdul-Razak declared her intention to make it challenging for anyone attempting to surpass her cooking record in the future. The chef received widespread support during her culinary marathon, with politicians, including Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, numerous celebrities, and even the Ghanaian military rallying behind her.
This achievement follows a trend of endurance records in the region, with Hilda Baci generating excitement in Nigeria last year before being surpassed by Fisher. Additionally, in December, Ghanaian media personality Afua Asantewaa completed a five-day singing marathon, including Christmas Day, aiming for a Guinness World Record.
